Terms of Service — Owed

1. What Owed is

Owed is a search tool. It looks through publicly available U.S. state unclaimed-property records and shows you what it finds, with step-by-step guidance on claiming it yourself.

Owed is not a government agency and is not affiliated with any state or with the United States government.

2. What Owed is not

We do not file claims. We do not act as your agent or representative. We do not contact states or holders on your behalf, we never handle any money you claim, and we do not accept a power of attorney.

You can always claim for free, directly through your state's official program. Owed never charges a percentage of any amount you claim. The subscription pays for searching and reminders — nothing else, and it costs the same whether you find nothing or find a great deal.

3. What the subscription includes

Owed Plus unlocks every match we find rather than just the first, lets you save up to ten names, and schedules a weekly reminder to re-check them.

The reminder is a local notification scheduled on your phone. Saved names stay on your device. We do not search on your behalf while the app is closed, because we never receive the names to search.

4. No guarantee

Results come from state records that may be incomplete, delayed, or wrong. Our copy is a weekly snapshot and can lag the state — property already returned to its owner may still appear until the next refresh.

A result is not proof that money is owed to you. Amounts shown are what the state reported. Whether a claim succeeds is decided by the state, not by us.

5. Subscriptions

Owed Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, offered weekly and yearly. Prices are shown in the app in your own currency, as supplied by the App Store.

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
• Where a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Manage or cancel any time in your Apple ID settings.
• Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.

6. Acceptable use

Search for names you have a legitimate reason to search — your own, your family's, names you are responsible for. Do not use Owed to build profiles of other people, for unlawful purposes, or in any way that invades someone's privacy.

7. Limitation of liability

Owed is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or from relying on search results.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, where Owed is operated. This does not remove any rights you have under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country or state where you live.

9. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it. Questions: support@getowed.app
